In coding, an event is when something happens that triggers the code ro run. For example, in mobile apps, the events that happen are usually the results of the user doing something: it could be a user’s click on a button, a change in the orientation of the phone screen or the user entering a text into a text box. Events are important because you can configure a “feedback/action” when the event happens, and this is as true for coding as it is for marketing. Whether you’re creating a newsletter or setting up an ecommerce, you want to give your users some responses when they take an action: if the event “subscribe to the newsletter” happens you may want to automatically send a welcome email to your subscribers, or you want an order confirmation email to be send when a purchase (event) is completed in your ecommerce.
